Who We are
Komé Sushi Kitchen is a family-run restaurant born from the desire to share Japanese home cooking, heartfelt hospitality, and a sense of joy through food.
Founded by husband-and-wife team Take and Kayo Asazu, Komé started as a humble farmers’ market bento stand in Austin in 2006, inspired by the comfort of home meals in Japan. Over time, it grew into a full-service restaurant where sushi meets soul — where every dish is made with care, balance, and a deep respect for seasonality and tradition.
We believe in creating connections — between guests, team members, and our local community. Komé is more than a restaurant; it’s a gathering place where friends and families come together to enjoy good food, laughter, and the spirit of omotenashi — Japanese wholehearted hospitality.
What we do
At Komé, we offer a variety of Japanese dining experiences throughout the day:
Lunch – Enjoy a Shokudo (Japanese bistro)–style menu with comforting, home-style dishes and daily specials.
Dinner – Experience Izakaya (Japanese tapas)–style dining with small plates meant for sharing, paired with sake and drinks.
Sushi – Our sushi menu is available all day, featuring traditional rolls, sashimi, and chef’s special creations prepared with seasonal ingredients.
Every dish reflects our love for simple, honest, and flavorful Japanese food — crafted with care, shared with joy.
